Ghassan Schbley – VP of Middle Eastern Affairs
Mr. Schbley, the Vice President of Middle Eastern Affairs had joined Chenega International Consulting, LLC, in October 2014. Ghassan develops and supervises Chenega’s regional projects that provide our key public and private sector clients with training and technical services in order to investigate illicit activities and mitigate security risks.
Ghassan has a decade of experience in researching and investigating terrorist and criminal organizations, including but not limited to conducting economic, intelligence, political and security analysis. His specialties include Open Source Monitoring and Analysis, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF), as well as Middle Eastern and African geo-political affairs.
Prior to joining Chenega International, Ghassan was appointed by the United Nations Secretary General as a finance expert on various UN Security Council Resolutions. His primary role was to investigate individuals, entities and armed groups that are engaged in acts that violates various UN sanctions on Sudan, Somalia and Eritrea. Ghassan had also worked with CNA and the RAND Corporation in Washington DC as a ‘National Security Researcher and Analyst’; with the U.S. Mission to the EU in Belgium; and with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ghassan is fluent in English, Arabic, French and Lingala.
John Douglas – Vice President
Mr. Douglas has joined Chenega International Consulting in April 2015 in the position of Vice President of European Affairs. After a military career in the British Army spanning 27 years with and infantry regiment interspersed with a number of intelligence appointments and operations, John retired in order to spend time in the Middle East.
Initially he worked on the Shell Pearl (GTL) project in Ras Laffan, Qatar and was responsible for the training and leadership development of the 250,000 strong construction workforce. He followed this by implementing a national training and education program in Yemen in partnership with Pearson Education and Sheikha Mozah’a youth enterprise, “Silatech”. After a period of political instability in Yemen John took up the appointment of Director Middle East, for Inspirational Development Group, affiliated with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to deliver youth development programs. Latterly, John returned to Yemen to take up an MD appointment with G4S as country lead to run the largest security company in the country responsible for critical infrastructure facilities.
Matt O’Hanlon – Director of Business Development
Mr. O’Hanlon joined Chenega International Consulting in 2015. Based in Northampton in the United Kingdom, Matt is committed to bringing Chenega’s extensive range of innovative services to market across Europe. A recently retired British Army Brigadier and career infantry officer, Matt has had recent diplomatic and operational experience at senior level in Berlin, Seoul and West Africa.
